What: 2008 Michigan State Maverick Comet Club International Mini Meet

Where: to be held with the 33nd Annual Motor City Show and Go at the Ford Motor Company World Head Quarters, Henry Ford II World Center, NorthWest Lot (behind the building)on Michigan Avenue and Southfield Freeway

Time: 9:00 am - 5:00 pm

Hosts: Sponored by the Shelby American Automobile Club, Motor City Region.

Show open to all Fords and Ford Clubs from Model T to Late Model GT, we have a class for your Ford Powered Vehicle.

Register times: Swap meet set up begins at 7am, Car Registration 8:30am until Noon.

Entry Fees: Spectators $2.00 per person, Show Pre-registration $10.00 by May 25, after and day of show $15.00. Day of Show Vendors for Swap Meet Pre-registration $15.00 by May 25, after and day of show $20.00. Car Corral $10.00 (any vehicle) Pre-registration ends May 25th

2008 Maverick mini-meet -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mark your calendars! We have set a firm date for the 5th annual 2008 Fords On the River Days car show in Dubuque, Iowa, which will incorporate the 2nd annual MCCI Mini-Meet. http://www.fordsontheriverdays.com/ It will be held on Sunday June 1st at the Eagle Window & Door plant on Kerper Blvd, same as last year. Be sure to join the MCCI at the largest Ford event of its kind, hosting more than 44,000 Ford,Lincoln, and Mercury enthusiasts. Over 2,100 show vehicles and 1,100 swap meet vendors make this a great “All Ford” must see!!! This is a must for any true blue oval fan, and the MCCI will be there once again with our own Regional Mini-Meet. Make plans to attend now.

Our Kentucky State Reps are 2 guys who helped in the organization of what has turned out to be one of the premiere car events in the country. The Somernites Cruises have been drawing serious attention from auto enthusiasts and media reps. Even though the official MCCI Mini-Meet is on Saturday, the Somernites website lists events starting on Thursday! I know of a couple of MCCI members from Georgia who attended this event last year, they gave it an absolute thumbs up! Wednesday, July 23, 2008 Car Cruise to Manassas National Battlefield Park At 12:00 noon we leave the host hotel for a 15-20 minute cruise to Manassas National Battlefield Park, Manassas, Virginia. We will be given a guided tour of the Manassas Civil War Battlefield. Price per person is about $5. Details are still in the works.

Thursday, July 24, 2008 Drag Racing Day at Old Dominion Speedway

This special Maverick/Comet Racing will be for MCCI members only. We will leave the host hotel at approximately 2:00 pm for a 30 minute cruise to the drag strip. Racing will start at 3:00 pm. An 1/8th mile track featuring: Full staff of track workers on hand, official starter, time slips, and VP Racing fuel for sale at the track. Unlimited test and tune just for Mavericks and Comets. The cost is $300 to be divided by participants. Supper will be pizza at the track.

Friday, July 25, 2008 Family Day on the Duck

At 8:00 am we leave the host hotel via the free hotel bus to Dulles Airport. From there we will ride the metro bus to the metro subway to Union Station in Washington D.C. Once at Union Station we will board the Duck. The Duck is an amphibious vehicle that will give us a fully narrated 1.5 hour tour as we cruise through Washington’s streets and waterways touring the National Mall. Cost is $30 per person, $15 per child 4 to12 years old, 3 years old and under are free. We will have time to sight see and have lunch in Washington D.C. before returning back to the host hotel.

6:00 pm – Evening Dinner at Chantilly’s Restaurant located in the host hotel. Chantilly’s features contemporary American cuisine in a casual setting. Prices range from $8 - $25. After supper you are on your own but there are a couple of things that may be of interest. Old Dominion Speedway in Manassas, Virginia has a NASCAR sponsored race that all MCCI members get in for free. All Mavericks and Comets will park in a car corral and have an opportunity to do a lap around the oval track. There will also be a large local cruise-in near the race track.

Event: 11th Annual Indiana State Mini-Meet
Location:   Customer Appreciation Cruise In - The Paddock, Knightstown, IN

Our 11th Annual Indiana Mini-Meet will be held in conjunction with The Paddock as they hold their Customer Appreciation Cruise-In on Saturday, August 23, 2008, the Saturday before Labor Day Weekend. The Paddock is located at 7565 S. St. Rd 109 in Knightstown, IN. Rain or shine, the show will be held from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm...or later if we're having too much fun!! Music, dash plaques, in-store discount, participant choice judging, door prizes and refreshments all on 15 acres of parking.
